From Participation to Purpose: Reimagining Social Value

Webinar

Social value is often talked about, but rarely unpacked. Is it something we measure? A way to show impact? Or a deeper way of understanding what engagement really achieves?

This webinar explores how social value shifts depending on the lens you take - whether you're thinking about individual empowerment, community resilience, or society-wide change. We’ll unpack how it overlaps with concepts like social license and social impact, and ask: can social value be captured in metrics, or is it something deeper?

The Central Coast Safer Cities: Her Way Project is an excellent example of engagement that created social value across multiple levels – from empowering individual community members to influencing organisational practices and building broader societal change around safety and inclusion.

We will explore the social value it generated through three complementary lenses:

  • Individual empowerment & transformation – how the project affected participants' agency, voice, and confidence
  • Systemic & organisational change – the lasting legacy across council, transport, police, and other organisations
  • Societal & collective capability – the broader community impact on collaboration, safety perceptions, and ongoing partnerships

If you're ready to move beyond counting participants and explore richer ways of understanding the value engagement creates, this session is for you.
