Discussing sexual health can be challenging, particularly when stigma, language barriers and cultural expectations prevent people from accessing trusted information and support. Cultural Perspectives worked with the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to develop a national campaign that engaged young multicultural audiences in culturally safe and accessible ways.

Join us for this special webinar as we hear directly from the team behind Sexual Health Awareness in Multicultural Communities and explore the engagement approach that shaped the campaign.

Community participation was embedded throughout the project, with multicultural and LGBTQIA+ young people, community organisations, youth ambassadors and health advocates helping to shape the campaign’s messaging, visual identity, resources and delivery channels. Through community vox pops, creative co-design, tailored resources and peer-led activities, the campaign created safe and inclusive opportunities to discuss a sensitive and often stigmatised topic.

During the webinar, the project team will take us behind the scenes to explore the campaign’s journey from research and co-design through to delivery, including the relationships, challenges and decisions that shaped the final approach.

Attendees will hear practical insights into:

• engaging communities on sensitive and potentially stigmatised topics

• designing culturally safe and accessible participation

• working with trusted community organisations and advocates

• embedding lived experience into campaign messaging and creative design

• using inclusive language and discreet engagement channels to reduce barriers
