A unique feature of Cross River Rail is the appointment of an independent Community Relations Monitor by the Coordinator-General. This model provides independent oversight of community engagement and complaints management, creating an additional layer of accountability and trust between the project team and affected communities.

This event will open with an optional tour of the almost complete, not yet open to the public, Albert Street station (numbers are limited).

Following the tour, a panel of communication and engagement leaders will convene from the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority, CPB Contractors BAM International, Ghella Australia UGL Joint Venture (CBGU JV) and the Community Relations Monitor.

The panel will explore how a shared commitment to transparency, responsiveness and community engagement has shaped the project's approach to community relations.

Through practical examples, panellists will discuss how project representatives worked together to define clear processes, conduct proactive risk profiling, manage impacts, respond to community concerns, and maintain relationships throughout construction. The discussion will reflect on key challenges and insights that are informing future legacy infrastructure projects including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games villages and venues.
