Meet the Speakers

Steph Roy McCallum Headshot

Most leaders were never trained to navigate the emotional storms that come with today’s complex public issues. Yet this is exactly where leadership matters most. High stakes. Polarized communities. Pressure to make decisions that affect people’s lives.

I help leaders, practitioners and teams find steadiness and clarity in those moments and create conditions where people can talk, listen and move forward together.

For more than 25 years I have supported leaders on five continents to work through conflict, opposition and high emotion with courage and compassion. As the Chief Storm Rider at the Courageous Leadership Project, I coach and train leaders to have brave, honest conversations. The kinds of conversations that rebuild trust, transform conflict and spark new possibilities.

My work blends conflict transformation, community engagement and leadership development into practical methods that help leaders stay grounded when the room gets intense.

I have worked in spaces where the stakes are real: Indigenous rights, truth and reconciliation, health care, municipal budgets, land use, natural disaster recovery, environmental protection and major infrastructure. What these issues share is complexity and emotion. What they require are leaders willing to show up with steadiness, curiosity and courage.

I am also an author, international speaker, Co Active trained leadership coach, a Certified Professional Facilitator, a Certified Neurotransformational Coach and one of the co leads who designed the new IAP2 Global Learning Pathway. I also train all the new IAP2 courses.

As a mediator, facilitator, and the Executive Director of Community Consulting LLC, my work is rooted in helping organizations move from tension to trust and from uncertainty to action.

I’ve led state, national, and international working groups through some of their most challenging conversations, creating space for collaborative problem-solving and durable agreement. One of my most recognized achievements includes guiding a multi-interest coalition to collaboratively negotiate agreement on a $2.5 billion component of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill—an outcome many believed was out of reach.

Whether supporting nonprofits, federal agencies, state or local governments, I am committed to designing processes that solve complex problems together and achieve results that last.
