2025 Core Values Award Winners:
Australasia Project of the Year Award and Indigenous – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Category
Go behind the project with the team who brought it to life.
Boorloo Bridge is more than a major piece of transport infrastructure. Connecting Victoria Park, Matagarup (Heirisson Island) and the Perth CBD across the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), the project demonstrates how genuine collaboration and engagement can embed culture, connection and community into the design and delivery of major infrastructure.
Join us for this special webinar as we hear directly from members of the team behind Boorloo Bridge: Building a Bridge Between Two Cultures and explore the engagement approach that helped shape the project.
The project placed engagement with Whadjuk Noongar Elders at its heart, with Traditional Owners involved from the early stages through design and construction. Their knowledge and cultural narratives helped influence key elements of the project, creating an enduring legacy that celebrates the cultural significance of the place and shares Whadjuk Noongar culture with the wider community.
During the webinar, the project team will take us behind the scenes to explore the journey from engagement through to delivery, including the relationships, challenges and decisions that shaped the final outcome.
Attendees will hear practical insights into:
building meaningful and trusted relationships with Traditional Owners
embedding cultural knowledge and storytelling into project design
creating genuine opportunities for community influence and shared ownership
maintaining engagement throughout the lifecycle of a major infrastructure project
lessons the team learned along the way that can be applied to future engagement projects.
The project was recognised as the 2025 Australasia Project of the Year and a winner in the Indigenous – Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander category of the Core Values Awards.
Whether you work in infrastructure, planning, government, community engagement or project delivery, this webinar offers an opportunity to learn from an award-winning project and the people who helped make it happen.
This webinar will be recorded and available for members via our resources portal.
